Sta. Monica Parish Church (Home of the Biggest bell in Asia) Pan-ay

Panay is located on plain and fertile land irrigated by the river the same name. The climate is rather humid due to the abundant nipa fields and the low sea level. It is bounded by the sea of mindoro, Pontevedra and the town of Capiz. Its location was so low that when the panay river overflowed, e flood waters used to reached the mean aaltar of the church.

The original name Bamban was changed by the early Spaniards to Panay, aword which means “mouth of river” this was the place where juan de la Isla built a fortress.

Father Martin de Rada is said to have been the first preach the gospel in 1566 by the banks of the river in the town of Bamban (Pan-ay). The town of Pan-ay was founded in 1572 under the advocation of Sta. Monica although according to jorde, it was founded in 1581. Originally this town was a small settlement with 2,645 tributos or 7,935 souls: it soon developed into a flourishing town. According to another writer, “it was the biggest ministry of the island and the richest town due to its trade with the Capiz an the Sangleys”.

This town was under the care of augustinians from th e begining until 1898 . Traditionally , the Panayanos speak the Hilig ueyna (hiligay non) dialect with exquisite purity and elegance. They speak in Honey voice manner resembling that of the andalusian s of spain , without the speech defect of the cebuanos who skip letters in their pronounciation and distort the simplicity of the visayan languages according to Fernandez.

The bell was cost by Don Juan Reina, who had settled in Iloilo City J.M. Basa Street in 1868 and their established his blacksmith and cast ing shop. When the belfry was being constructed Fr. Jose Beluso sent for him. With just few rud imentary tools Reina set temporary shop at the foot of the town and hurried with the casting of the bell . The five story belfry is the center of curiousity because of its unusally huge bell- cast in 19th century from 70 sacks of coin donated by th e town folk. It measured se ven feet in diamete , five feet in hight and weight 10,400 kilograms.

The people of the town affectionately call it Dakung Lingganay for “big bell”. Then, the priest and caster agreed on the testing time. When the bell tried during the Angelus, the sound was so loud that every nearby town heard the voice of the bell of Panay.

Parents was the most precious thing that God gave to us. They are my adviser, friend, financer, supporter and a lot more. Through them they let us see the world. Experience the beauty of life. They are the one whose responsible in every action we do even though it is right or wrong. They are our first teacher. They teach us what life is. Sharing their knowlegde up to what they have learned. Sends us to school to let us learn more and to explore life outside.

As far as i could remember, one time i received my report card when i was in grade one. My mother signed my report card but then i dont want to be signed it by my mother you know what i did? I just erase it and let my father signed it. My mother know what i did she just smile on me and said its ok. I just realized then that even my mother signed it i guess its ok for she is my mother it is just that i love to be signed it with my father first.

I am afraid with my parents because i dont want them to hate me. For i know in every thing they said and done it is for our own good. So better obey your parents for parents know whats best for us.

Childhood Toy

Childhood life was the best part of the life of a person. Innocent faces and mind was the feature of an Innocent child. At this point no problems to worry as long as you have a playmate. As far as i could remember i have no favorite toys. As long as i have a toy to play and playmates i am happy and satisfied. Yes! toys can make a chiold happy as long as they like it. But as i observe if the toy they are playing with is not their favorite they just through it side by side and they are not contented of what they have. So a little concern from me let the child select of what toys they want to buy so that the money that will be spent on that thing wont waste.

Frightening Places

Each of us had a frightening place to go with. There must be a reason why we are afraid to go to that Place. Maybe you have a phobia on the said place. Since i was a child i am afraid of the ghost. I dont know why, maybe because of the movies that i had seen when i am a young one it leaves on me a bad impact on my part that until now i’d never over come on it. One of that place was cemetery. Because i always think that the dead will be rise. Until now i dont know why. I suggest to those parents better not let your children to watch a horror movie especially ages 3-6 years old for in this age they develop a kind of feeling that frigthened them in the dark.

Dreaming is my hobby especially when im alone. I think things and hoping that all my dreamsm would come true. One of my dreams is to go to Places thats new for me. I’d like travelling around the world. And that was my dream to go to Places around the world. Just like in Canada, USA, London, Parish, Dubai and many more. Also in touring in this places i hava a purpose to do. To see my favorite hollywood stars and singers. Even though it is a dream who knows it may come true.

A Price posession

At this age communication is very important. Knowing that through communication we can keep in touch to our family, friends and special love ones. Even they are in abroad you can keep in touch with them anytime. As I observe mostly people uses cellphones even children knows how to use it. Through with this you can transact business. You dont need to go anywhere if you needed some information. Thats why I always bring my cellphone because every time my sister ask me to buy somehing i can buy it.

One of my most valuable thing was my collection of Pocket book romance. When this collection of mine lost I felt very sad. I read this every time i got bored and has nothing to do. This is my favorite past times.

Ride

When the first week of may comes where excited because that is the time that we can enjoy the summer. From may 1-4 It was the feast of the Sta. monica parish church which is located at Panay capiz . Every night we go to plaza to watch the show.

Me and my cousin go for a ride on a ferris wheel. At first i was afraid that i mght fall down on the ground. I was very afraid to open my eyes especially when we are on the top. But suddenly when i get used to it. Im no longer afraid to open my eyes. I love being on the top because i felt that i am at the top of the world.

Every Weekend while cleaning in the house i keep on listening to music. Music is like vitamins that it makes me feel better. Especially when i heard the voice of my favorite Dj. As far as i could remember when we go to Bacolod City where we attended seminar in one of the college schools in Bacolod after eating our luchn we escape for a while to go to the station of my favorite Dj that was the happiest moment in my life.

Thats why i love the music which in titled im fell in love with a Dj because it seems it suits on my stand about the crush of mine which is a Dj. When im alone and nothing to do im hamming with this song.

Aeta’s in Roxas City

When i heard the word Aeta the first thin g com es to my mind is they are dark to very dark brown skinned and tend to have features such as a small stature, small frame, curly hair, small nose, and dark brown eyes. They are thought to be among the earliest inhabitants of the Philippines, who live in scattered, isolated mountainous parts.

But now here at Roxas City specifically in Plaza there are lots of aeta’s . Sometimes i wonder where they came from. As i observed they just roaming around the plaza and beg some money in passers by. They have no house no work. But even though they are in the cities there way of living is same as the way they live at the mountain. The worst thing about aeta’s was there children became like there older an illiterate one.

Shopping Mall

Shopping malls are anywhere in the philippines.When we say shopping mall or shopping center. It is a building or set of buildings that contains a variety of retail unit. People often go to mall to shop for new clothes, shoes etc. Especially if the malls offer a big discount. But others go only for windows shopping or sight seeing.

Here in CAPIZ we have one mall here and that was gaisano city. It is located at arnaldo boulevard Roxas City. One ride from Plaza. There are six fast food chain in the ground Floor and At the 3rd floor there have only one the food court. There are three movie house that was located at 3rd floor also and in the 2nd floor you will see the department store. even though it is only one mall here in Roxas but then it can satisfied the needs of the people
